System Requirements
Server Requirements
GEE Whiz 2.1 GWIA/NMAP is compatible with GroupWise and NetMail running on the following systems:
- Novell OES and SLES 8 or 9, NetWare 5.1 SP 6+, 6.0.5 SP 4+, and 6.5.2+
- Microsoft Windows NT Server, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Servers (future release)
GEE Whiz 2.1 SMTP is compatible with all mail systems running on the following systems:
- Novell OES, NetWare and SUSE Linux, and other Linux Distributions
- Microsoft Windows NT Server, Windows 2000, Windows 2003 Servers
Server hardware requirements:
- A connection to the Internet to allow for the on-line software and anti-spam ruleset updates
- An additional 128 MB of RAM over the minimum requirements for the server and GWIA or NetMail
- 35 MB of free disk space to install GEE Whiz
- Recommend a minimum of 750 MB of free disk space if message quarantines are used and if the Advanced Textual Classifier has a large corpus of SPAM and HAM available to be analysed.
GEE Whiz is more CPU dependent than RAM dependent. Installing copious amounts of extra memory may help process extra threads, but will not provide significant performance gains.
Server access rights/permissions:
- The eDirectory user identified for anti-virus operations must have Supervisor rights to the directories that are used for anti-virus scanning.
Anti-virus software requirements:
- GEE Whiz does not include its own anti-virus scanner. GEE Whiz works in conjunction with your preferred 3rd-party NLM-based or Linux-based anti-virus software. The anti-virus software must be configured to delete or purge attachments that are infected.
Workstation Requirements
- GEE Whiz requires a browser for configuration and management
- Linux: Firefox and equivalent Mozilla-based browsers
- Windows: Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later; Netscape Navigator* 4.5 or later, Firefox
- Macintosh: Safari* 1.0 or later, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 or later; Netscape Navigator 4.51 or later
