We've build a win32 and linux version of a UI for making tclass.dat files (the GEE2 textual classifier data format) on a workstation rather than on your server.

Please give this a try and leave feedback.

You can find it at http://www.geewhiz.ca/index.php/GEE_Whiz_Classifier

This is BETA.

Don't phone support expecting support. Support will be given only on these forums.

Has anybody else tried this.  I am trying to use the the POP3 feature and it does not seem to be able to download the files.  It does a list and retrieve command and then stalls out.

Hmm, are there any large messages in there?

Also, can you post the relevant log file from the attempt. Should be in C:\program files\gee whiz classifier\200505xx.log

No there was not any large messages but there was 500 messages in the spam email box.  I tried shorting it down to 2 but that didn't seem to help either.  Attached is a screen shot also.

Daniel, I can either compile a debug version of the classifier, which will collect the server responses in a log file from your pop mail server, or you can send me the server/user/pass for either the spam or ham mail account(I need to see what the pop mail server responses are to commands). In fact, you could even set up an account for me to use quick on the server and I could mail it a couple test messages. Any way works for me but if I could get an account I can telnet into and manually type in commands it would be the fastest/easiest way to track down this problem. I am thinking that maybe your server isn't 100% RFC compliant to the pop standard in its server responses(which I rely on).

You can reach me at kenj@gwava.com, or kenjohnson@submersion.com.

Two things:

1) It would be nice if you would save the selected settings as default, or give that option, ESPECIALLY for retrieving ham/spam from directories.  I have directories on the server which I choose for ham, spam, and where to write the TCLASS file.  Instead of searching for those each time, it would be better if the previous selections were automatically loaded.

2) How do the settings that I am asked to confirm relating to pipeline stages, etc. compare to what is done if I run the classifier on the server?  Are they the same?  I would want the UI settings to match what would happen if I run the classifier via the GEE2WEB interface.  I haven't changed anything related to this on the web interface from whatever the default setup would be.

Since ExportSpam no longer works with my GroupWise 7 client, I went back to try and use the Classifier GUI.  It works fine if the messages are in the spam and ham directories on the server, but I can not get it to work via POP3.  It freezes each time.

My bad.  Since there was no documentation, I assumed that it pulled the emails from a HAM and SPAM folder in the POP3 account.  BUT still, after the emails are acquired, the program just doesn't do anything.  It just sits on the screen indicating the number of spam and ham messages imported.  It is  supposed to do something?  I don't have a button  to  go any further.

Any other options for easily moving emails to the SPAM and HAM directories on the server or workstation from an existing GW email account.
