Problem from Customer:
I have installed the Omni Mobile client onto a UT Starcom XV6700 smart phone that uses Windows Mobile 5. I used the same .cer certificate file to enable SSL on that device that I have used successfully on several Palm Treo 700w devices. When I attempt to run the Omni Mobile client, I see "The server has a signed certificate but the date could not be validated". What is the problem?
Resolution:
The customer was asked to check the system date on the device, which turned out to be showing a date in July of 2005. Since the device thinks it is that date, when it read a date of a .cer file that was issued in the future, it reported that the date could not be validated. Once the system date was set to the present date, the error disappeared and the Omni Mobile client worked properly in SSL mode.
