Hello,

I have a HP iPAQ with Omni Mobile. When I disconnect the iPAQ away from the PC (by USB) and I post an appointment on the iPAQ I see an error: Unable to contact server. Error: connect timeoout.

But when I the iPAQ connect to PC (by USB), the appointment that I make is posted on the calendar.

What can be the problem? I will make on the iPAQ appointments and on a later moment synchronize... but it don't work....

Depending on your device type, when going from one communication protocol to another (Wi-Fi to cradle-sync or GPRS and vice versa), if your device is not properly reconnecting, it is a best practice to exit and restart Omni Mobile.

Omni Mobile supports Wi-Fi, GPRS and Cradle synchronization with Windows Mobile and Pocket PC devices.  If your device supports working in a wireless mode using either WiFi or some commercial service like GPRS or CDMA, you can successfully switch between cradled and wireless mode.  Here are the normal steps to go from cradled mode to wireless mode:

  1. From the tree view in the Omni Mobile client, tap Tools and select Work Offline.
  2. Uncradle the device and confirm that your device is connected using wireless communications (note that you must have access to the Internet)
  3. Tap Tools and select Work Online.  Omni Mobile will re-authenticate to GroupWise WebAccess and perform any immediate updates and confirm when the next scheduled update is required.
Please refer to "About the Different Modes (Online vs Offline) on pages 21 and 22 of the "Omni Mobile User Guide" available at http://www.omni-ts.com/documentation/mobility/omni-mobile-us er-guide.pdf.
