There are four major steps to transfer a device to a different person:
Step 1 - Remove the UserData from the device and delete the device from the server:
- From a workstation, login to GroupWise WebAccess as the account FROM which you want to transfer the device.
- Select the Omni Mobile icon (GroupWise 6.5) or tab (GroupWise 7).
- In the General Tab, In "Device Status" find the device to be transferred to the other account. Select either "Deleted" or "Delete Device" from the drop-down list.
This will initiate a forced 'poison pill' which will delete the UserData folder and contents for the existing user from the device. It will also remove the device
from the user's Device Status list and enable the client for account
provisioning to another user.
- During the next synchronization cycle the user data will be cleared and Omni Mobile exited.
Optionally, if desired a manual update can be performed to force a synchronization cycle. On the device in the Omni Mobile client, switch to working "Off-line" and then back to "On-Line". This will force the device to request an update from the server. The "Delete device" update will remove the UserData and exit the client. The user will see an error window "This device has been deleted". Click "OK" to close that window.
- Do not attempt to open the Omni Mobile client again until Step 4.
Step 2 - As the Mobile Administrator, remove the old user (if that user will no longer use Omni Mobile) and add the new user to the "Authorised Users" box and click Update:
- Login to WebAccess as the Omni Mobile administrator.
- On the General / System tab, enter the name of the new account to
be authorised to use Omni Mobile in the Authorised Users box. If the
other user is no longer going to use Omni Mobile, remove the user from
the Authorised Users box.
Step 3 - Have the NEW user login into GroupWise WebAccess and configure his Omni Mobile policy for Mail, Folder, Calendar and Address Book settings.
Step 4 - There are two options to provision the account:
Option 1 - Run the "First-Run Wizard" to populate the account onto the mobile device.
- Start Omni Mobile on the mobile device. Because there is no UserData information, the First-Run Wizard will start.
- Enter the URL for the GroupWise WebAccess server.
- Enter the user login name and password and select to Start >
OR
Option 2 - Use the omnimobile-desktop.exe to create and copy a
set of PDB files onto the device.
For the complete steps to install and configure the Omni Mobile client, refer to the applicable Quick Start Guides:
