Question: We are
considering which PDA platform / devices to purchase for our corporate
environment. Do you have any recommendations?
Answer: Many GroupWise customers ask us to recommend the best PDA for GroupWise.
When considering which PDA to choose, it is important to note some of the limitations of each platform: Go to this article for a full review of some of the factors to consider when choosing a PDA for Omni Mobile.
Following is the conclusion of the article: The Cingular 8125 (and similar full-size, horizontal "flip" keyboard devices), the HP 6915 (because it has built-in Wi-Fi, Edge, GPRS and Blue Tooth) and the Palm Treo 700W and HP iPAQ 6515 are the best PDAs for GroupWise and for Omni Mobile and Omni Messenger for
GroupWise. Not only do these devices provide great access to
GroupWise with Omni Mobile and Omni Messenger, they deliver native
access to attachments, the best browsing experience, acceptable battery
life, a very good phone, a good set of default applications and the
best graphic user experience available on a PDA. These are great
devices. I must admit, however, that using the RDP client is a
bit of a challenge when viewing my 1024 x 768 remote desktop from the
240 x 240 screen. :-)
And maybe that's the most important thing to remember about choosing the best PDA – you can't have everything! Aldo Zanoni
