Hello, Rogier.
With a Pocket PC or Windows Mobile device, if you use the X to close the Omni Mobile windows, Omni Mobile will continue to operate in active mode and will synchronize in the background. Selecting the X on a Windows Mobile device does not close the application, it only hides it (equivalent to minimising a Windows application on a desktop).
However, if you use the "power off" button to turn off the screen on a Pocket PC or Windows Mobile device, the device is put into "hibernate" mode. I think this is what you refer to above as "standby". If the device is in hibernate mode, Omni Mobile will not be able to update.
Before I explain the rest of what is happening, the good news is that we have resolved this issue and expect to include the solution in version 2.6 (after we ship the BlackBerry release).
What is happening is that, when you use the power button to turn off the screen, the device goes into hibernate mode. Although Omni Mobile is still, it is no longer active and it will not follow the synchronisation schedule. To get around this scenario, do not use the power off button to turn off the screen to save power. Set the "Backlight" option to automatically turn off after 30 seconds and to turn on after a button is touched. This will always leave Omni Mobile in "active" mode, even if you use the X to minimise Omni Mobile. With the current release, you can not turn off the power (hibernate mode) if you want Omni Mobile to continue to synchronise.
Our solution to the problem is to create a timer application that will automatically wake up Omni Mobile if the device is in "hibernate" mode and have it carry out the synchronisation. After synchronising, Omni Mobile will go back to hibernate mode. This is how the native Pocket PC and Windows Mobile applications work if the device is in hibernate mode. They set an internal timer alarm or trigger that wakes up the application. It is transparent to the user. That is what Omni Mobile will do in version 2.6.
Please keep providing your feedback.
