Question:  Is there a way to force a device to update a policy rather than waiting for the scheduled update?

Answer:  Yes.  In Omni Mobile on the device, switch to "Work Offline" and then back to "Work Online".  This will force the Omni Mobile client to check the server for policy updates.  To switch modes go to the tree view and choose Menu > Tools > Work Offline or Work Online.
