Question: Is there a way to quickly remove data from the Omni Mobile client without disabling, uninstalling, or deleting the client?
Answer: Yes, there are several options:
To Remove All Data. Use this procedure to remove all mail, calendar and address book data from the device:
- Login to your GroupWise WebAccess account, choose the "Omni Mobile" tab or icon and go to the "General" page.
- Find your device in "Device Status"
- Choose "Poison Pill then Enable" and click "Update".
The next time that the Omni Mobile client contacts the server the "Poison Pill then Enable" update will be enforced. The UserData will be removed from the device and the client will close. An error window will open "This device has been reset". Click on the "OK" to close the window.
- (Optional) You may want to lower the "Copy" values for selected folders in the "Folder" policy and unselect the larger address books (e.g. System and Frequent Contacts) in the Address Book policy. This will reduce the amount of data that has to be copied back to the device.
- Run the Omni Mobile client on the device and enter the WebAccess URL, GroupWise login name and password, and click "Start >".
To Remove Unwanted Data. Use this procedure to remove unwanted data but keep a smaller amount of data on the device:
- In Omni Mobile on your device switch to "Work Offline".
- Login to your GroupWise WebAccess account, choose the "Omni Mobile" tab or icon and go to the "Policy" page.
- In the "Folder" policy lower the "Retain" value to a desired level (e.g. if you are saving 180 days but want to remove all but the last 7 days of mail, change the "Retain" value to "7"). You can also deselect any folders that you no longer want to retain. (To completely empty a folder deselect that folder. After the client removes the folder you can reselect it to add it back in the client). Click "Update" to save the changes.
- (Optional) Unselect the larger address books (e.g. System and Frequent Contacts) in the Address Book policy if you no longer need them. Click "Update" to save the changes.
- In Omni Mobile on your device Switch to "Work Online". This will force a policy update change to the device and the unwanted data will be removed.
