We have recently received numerous calls about this error. If you install EMU on a Windows XP or Windows 2000 system you may experience the following error: "Run-time error `339`; Component `MSCOMCT2.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." This error is indicating that your workstation installation is missing a file this file.

You can obtain the file from http://dev1.omniclass.net/files/MSCOMCTL.zip to resolve this problem. Extract the contents to your %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32 folder (where %WINDIR% is the installation directory for Windows). Run the following command at a command prompt:

The correct syntax is:

%WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE %WINDIR%\SYSTEM32\mscomctl.ocx

where %WINDIR% indicates path to windows directory. The typical command to type would be:

C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\MSCOMCTL.OCX (on Windows 2000)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\REGSVR32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSCOMCTL.OCX (on Windows XP)
