Problem:  When I log into Omni Mobile, I see "Error:  CertDateInvalid" at the bottom of the display and the client will not update data.  Users can switch to "Work Offline" to compose email or calendar items, but those items will not be updated to the user's GroupWise system.

Cause:  This error is caused when the SSL certificate for the GroupWise WebAccess Application server (web server) expires.  This can be confirmed by using the Firefox browser to access GroupWise WebAccess.  This will open a "Server Certificate Expired" window with the following text:

"mail.mycomany.com" is a site that uses a security certificate to encrypt data during transmission, but its certificate expired on MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM AM or PM (e.g. 10/28/2006 7:02 PM).

You should check to make sure that your computer's time (currently set to ...) is correct.

Would you like to continue anyway?

Note that the IE browser will report a "Security Alert" window with a "The security certificate has expired or is not yet valid" error.

Resolution:  To correctly resolve the problem, the GroupWise Administrator needs to replace the SSL certificate on the WebAccess web server.  Refer to http://www.omni-ts.com/forum/post--1751--page-1.html for additional information on creating SSL certificates.

As a temporary solution, Omni Mobile users can modify their client properties to remove the "s" from the "https" in the server URL.  This will switch the Omni Mobile client to working in non-SSL mode and only the user's password will be encrypted.  This temporary fix will only work if TCP/IP Port 80 is permitted on the GroupWise WebAccess server.
