Problem:  With the recent change from Daylight Savings Time (DST) back to regular time, calendar items composed and sent from the Omni Mobile client are one hour out from proper time.

Cause:  We have confirmed a bug with DST and the Omni Mobile client in certain environments.  Please refer to the following Novell Support TIDs for more information about Novell GroupWise DST time issues:  10081255 (General Issues) 10076257 (WebAccess specific time issues).  Omni Mobile receives its time information from the WebAccess server.  Click here for more information on the factors that determine Omni Mobile time information.  Please ensure that the issues identified in the above links are properly configured before proceeding with Omni Mobile changes.

Interim Fix:  Until a permanent fix is in place, the users will need to change their calendar synchronisation policy values (which removes the calendar entries from the mobile device) and set them back with the following steps:
  1. Open Omni Mobile on the device.  Go to Tools / Options.  Depending on whether we are at the start or the end of a DST period, if the check box is checked on the "Is DST?", uncheck this (or if it is not checked, check it).  In theory, this should be been all that is required to adjust the calendar entries on the local device.  If this does not solve the problem, continue through the remaining steps.
  2. Login to WebAccess and select Omni Mobile.
  3. Select the Policy tab and then the Folders tab.
  4. On the Calendar folder, take note of what the Copy and Retain values are so you can set them back later.  Change the values for Copy and Retain to both be "1" and click the Update button.
  5. After the Update is complete, select the Calendar tab.
  6. Change the Synchronization Interval to 1 day after today and click on the Update button.
  7. Start Omni Mobile on the device.  The user can wait for the next synchronisation cycle to occur to cause the new policy to be sent to the device or he can open the Calendar view and select Calendar/Update.
  8. In the Calendar View, select Calendar / Update.  This will synchronise the new policy to the device and the new date range will delete all of the calendar entries except for today and tomorrow.  These appointments will not have changed and will still be off by an hour.
  9. After confirming that the other calendar entries are deleted, have the user repeat steps 2 to 8 except in steps 4 and 6, you want the users to set the values back to the original Copy/Retain values.
This will cause the calendar entries for dates in the future to be correct.
