We are setting up a SLED 10 system with 2 dual head cards ( NVIDIA NX 7300GS)

The system works fine until we activate the desktop multiplier.
Sometimes we can login but when we login with root the system halts.
The only thing we get is black screens and the system reboots.

any help would be appreciated.

Hello.

This can be caused by not disabling on-board video support in the PC's BIOS settings.  You can also refer to http://www.omni-ts.com/forum/post--1917--page-1.html for steps to address your problem.

If you continue to experience difficulties, please call +1.780.423.4200 and ask for technical support.

There is no on-board video.

A clean install, no sled updates, installing the latest nvidia driver, hooking up 4 screens and installing the multiplier software made it work.

Still very tricky so we are currently taking an image of the base install before proceeding with the suse updates and the lockdown.

We moved our setup and only hooked on 3 screens.
The system gave an error about the xserver and rebooted.
Hooking up a 4th screen solved this.

Does this mean that if one screen breaks, none of the systems work anymore or is there a way to easily reconfigure the system.
I know you can run the config but is it also possible to use only one of the dual head cards if needed without a lot of trouble.

Hello, Olivier.

This should not normally present a problem.  Usually, if there is a challenge the system should prompt for a reassignment of all monitor/keyboard/mouse assignments.  If that does not happen, then you can force the rediscovery of active dual heads by using the steps described in http://www.omni-ts.com/forum/post--1917--page-1.html.
You can also force the reassignment of hardware using the steps described in http://www.omni-ts.com/forum/post--1920--page-1.html.

Regards,

Please be aware that additional information has become available.  With nVidia dual-head cards, monitors must be hooked up to both 'heads' on all cards, or you will experience problems.  More information is available at http://www.omni-ts.com/forum/post--1995--page-1.html,

Regards,
