What are some of your alternatives?

Right now, I have a shared address book, that's essentially a company directory, shared out to everyone in the company. It'd be nice to be able to have the users with smartphones sync this shared book, but since the SOAP API in GroupWise doesn't support shared events, I guess we're all screwed; that is unless someone has created a work around or has some good ideas as to how to automate this process as much as possible.

I was thinking about writing a very simple, possibly "send-key", program that would copy contacts out of shared books, create personal books, then paste them in. It wouldn't be anything to be proud of, probably take a long time to do its thing, but if it works, who cares?

Thoughts?

Omni Mobile supports shared address books. Omni Mobile does not use the SOAP API.  It uses the WebAccess APIs, so shared address books are not a problem.  Omni Mobile treats a shared address book like any other address book.

To add a shared address book to the device, the user logs into his WebAccess account and selects Omni Mobile/Policy/Address Book.  The user selects the shared address book and applies the synchronisation settings.  After selecting the "Update" button to save and enforce the new policy, the next time the device synchronises, the shared folder is availaable in on-line or off-line mode.
