Question:  What is the proper way to completely uninstall Riva?

Answer:  Please ensure that you read the WARNING about reversing Riva policies before uninstalling the Riva application.

W A R N I N G

Riva will not automatically reverse existing policies when it is uninstalled.  Administrators must reverse existing policies BEFORE uninstalling Riva.  Uninstalling Riva with existing policies is not recoverable.

STEPS

Recommended steps to reverse Riva policies and uninstall Riva are:
  1. Delete the Riva scheduled task in Windows Task Scheduler if it exists.
  2. Launch Riva.
  3. Reverse (see "Reversing Policies" below) and delete existing policies.
  4. Uninstall Riva by running "Add / Remove Programs" from the Windows Control Panel.
Reversing Policies
  • Common Calendar Policies - Open an existing Common Calendar Module policy (or create a new policy).  Select the "Delete ALL Objects created by all policies of this type" checkbox and click Save >>.  Highlight this policy and click "Execute Selected Policies"  This will remove all calendar items created by all Common Calendar policies.  Finally, remove all existing Common Calendar module policies.

  • Common Proxy Policies - For each Common Procy policy, use ConsoleOne to move all users to a "RemoveProxy" source group.  Create a CPU Remove Policy and use the "RemoveProxy" group as the source for the policy.  Highlight the CPU Remove Policy and click "Execute Selected Policies".  This will reset proxy assignments to blank.  Finally, remove all existing Common Proxy policies.

  • Dynamic GW Distribution List Policies - Open each DDL policy and click select >> for the Source.  When the eDirectory Browse Tree window opens, click "OK" to immediately close the window.   Click "OK" in the Problem window.  The Source should now be blank. Click Save >>.  Highlight the DLL policies and click "Execute Selected Policies".  This will reset distrbution list assignments to blank.  Finally, remove all existing Dynamic GW Distribution List policies.

  • All Other Riva Policies - the Rest of the Riva Policies can be removed.
