I am trying to create student account and have a default password of 'password'.  I want them to be required to change it on first login.  I want the password to expire every year.  My settings are as follows:

When I try to create the account I get:

Account Name: 'User Name' An Error occurred while trying to set the password.  The password was probably not set.

I then have to manually go in to consoleOne and set their password.

Is there any way to do what I want to do?  I am using EMU 3.6.55.

The error you are seeing could be caused by an NDS rights issue.  It's possible that the account you are logging into your Tree with does not have supervisor rights to create these accounts.

There are a few changes you need to make to your settings to attain the requirements you describe.  First you must set the 'Date Password Expires' to a date in the past so that the user will be prompted to change the password immediately.

Check the 'require unique passwords' checkbox.

If you have 'Limit Grace Logins' checked,  you must specify both values for it.

The settings look good other than that.

Let me know if these suggestions help or not.

I am logged in to NDS as the primary Admin account.  I made all the setting changes you suggested.  Today is November 28, 2007.  I set the password to expire on November 13, 2007.  I checked require unique passwords.  I also set set both values to 1 on Limit Grace Logins.  I still got the same unable to set password error.

Hello.

EMU 3.6.58 is available for download.  Please use the same download link for EMU that you were originally provided.  You will have to uninstall and reinstall EMU.

I ask that you retry your user import process again to see if you get the same result.  If you continue to experience an issue, please use our Contact Us form to provide us with your contact info, and one of our tech staff will get back to you.
