Problem: Customer reported that
Quote:
| When I go to log into eControl, it tells anyone who tries to login that they have Invalid Username Information. |
|
|
Discussion:
Being unable to login to eControl can be caused by three possibilities:- A change in the LDAP configuration on the server that is being used to authenticate to eControl
- The password for the eControl "master" account has changed
- The SSL certificate of the LDAP server has expired.
To confirm a configuration issue
Try to login to the eDirectory system as the eControl user
using the eControl login and password from a standard Novell login. If you can login to eDirectory as the eControl user, the
problem will be caused by a change having been made to the LDAP server. If you can't login to
eDirectory, the problem is related to the eControl master account name or password having been changed.
Login to the Windows eControl host machine as the eControl user. Open
the eControl administration application. This will require the eControl
login and password. Select the Configure/Systems/System Name/Modify.
This is where the LDAP server and login and password are stored.
To confirm an SSL certificate issue
Examine the details of the SSL certificate that the browser is using and check for the expiration date. If the certificate has expired, a new certificate must be created and installed on the LDAP server.
Resolution:
In the case that this customer had reported, the problem was cause by the LDAP server SSL certificate having expired. A new SSL certificate was created and the problem was resolved.
If the problem still persists, please contact Omni Technical Support.
