Question: If I apply a Riva policy to a group that has 300 users in it, and I have 300 licenses, it will use up all the licenses, right? Well, what happens if six months from now, 50 of the users in that group have been removed, and then replaced by 50 new users. (We have pretty high turnover.) Do I have to buy 50 additional licenses for the new users, or is it smart enough to reapply the licenses from the old members who have been removed to the current members of the group, regardless of how many users have been replaced since the first time it was run?
Answer: The Riva licensing module is smart enough to return user licences that haven't been accessed 90 days back to the licence pool. From that perspective, it works very much like Novell licensing and DHCP addresses.
