Question:  A customer asked if Riva CRM Desktop Edition will work through a squid proxy or an http proxy.  He is required to work through proxy access from home but does not work through a proxy when at the office.

Answer:  The recommended practise is to not work through a proxy in this situation.  Since there is no need to run Riva CRM Desktop Edition from two different PCs, we recommend that users set up Riva to run on a workstation in the office on a scheduled synchronisation basis (every five minutes during peak times and once every two or four hours off peak times.)  That way you don't have to worry about configuring any proxy servers.  Riva does not have to run on the same workstation you are using to access GroupWise or SugarCRM.  A best practice is not to set up Riva on a laptop, but rather to have it run on a workstation in the office so any time you reconnect with your laptop, GroupWise and SugarCRM will always be synchronised.
