Problem:  Customer reported problem when trying to run the Riva GroupWise connection wizard.  The wizard will not display post office or domain objects.

Log:  The log file showed:

Code:
10-09-2008 10:42:47,812 ERROR [260] *     [CL: CreateWizard; M isplayDetectionResults(): OM] Exception was thrown while trying to display post offices and domains
10-09-2008 10:42:47,812 ERROR [260] *     System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

The log is reporting that the eDirectory attribute on the GroupWsie domain is not being returned by the LDAP server.

Cause:  Verified the LDAP Group being used and discovered that "Require TLS for simple passwords" was checked.  Since the eDirectory connection wizard used non-SSL port 389 to create the eDirectory connection, there was no way for the LDAP server to return the LDAP values for the GroupWise domain.

Resolution:  Two options exist:

Option A - In ConsoleOne uncheck "Require TLS for simple passwords" setting in the LDAP Group and refresh the LDAP server.  Rerun the Riva GroupWise connection wizard.  (This is the less secure option).

Option B - In Riva, remove the eDirectory connection object.  Rerun the eDirectory connection wizard to build a connection that uses SSL on port 636.  Rerun the GroupWise connection wizard to discover the GroupWise domain and post office objects.
