Hello, Mark.
Yes, EMU can be used to create unique IDs as you import users. If your eDirectory tree has been Linux User Management enabled, unique IDs should be created by default. Before proceeding, please review all the applicable information from Novell documentation regarding unique IDs and Linux User Management (LUM).
To manually create unique IDs when importing users:
- Add a uniqueID column to your impoirt csv file.
- In EMU select "File" > "Load IMport Data File"
- Follow the normal steps to identify all the applicable fields for importing users.
- In EMU, under the NDS tab, select "Advanced Values".
- Locate and select the "uniqueID" attribute.
- In the "Linked Field" drop-down list, select the column from your csv file that holds the uniqueID values.
- Continue with the rest of the steps to complete the import of users.
We highly recommend that you test this procedure using dummy accounts in your environment to ensure that it meets your requirements before using it for importing real user accounts.
