Question: How do I configure Riva CRM Integration Server to connect with GroupWise running on Linux?
Answer: The key requirement is that a GroupWise trusted application key needs to be created for Riva. To meet that requirement, Riva needs to connect with GroupWise domain on a NSS volume or a local drive. There are three options:
- Option 1 - GroupWise Installed on NSS Volume (Netware or Linux server): The advantage of installing GroupWise on an NSS volume is that Riva can communicate with GroupWise on NSS volumes using the native APIs and NCP protocols.
- Option 2 - Create Secondary Domain on a NSS Volume: If you want to run GroupWise on Reiser or EXT3, another option is to create a small NSS volume and put an empty GroupWise secondary domain on that volume. There would be no performance disadvantage because there is nothing actually running on that volume. This allows Riva to access the UNC path to the wpdomain.db file on the NSS volume using native calls. The secondary domain redirects Riva's requests as required.
- Option 3 - Create a Secondary Domain on the Riva System: If you have installed GroupWise on Reiser or EXT3, you install a secondary GroupWise domain on the Riva Windows machine. This allows you to configure GroupWise on Linux as per your best practices and preferences. The only disadvantage is the 15 minutes or so it takes to install, configure and start the domain on the Windows machine. With the secondary domain running on the Riva server, Riva can use the local path to the secondary domain's wpdomain.db file. The secondary domain redirects Riva requests to the other GroupWise domain(s) as required.

Does the secondary GroupWise domain need to be permanent,
or is it only there in order to create the trusted
application key initially?
Thanks

Hello, Alex.
No, the secondary domain must remain installed. This will allow the GroupWise Admin APIs that Riva uses to write changes to the respective PO. Riva can only communicate through a Domain that is installed on a NSS volume or a local drive of the Windows system that Riva is installed on. Once you install and configure the secondary domain, Riva will communicate changes to that domain and it will be redirected to the other domains and post offices in the system.
