Question:  Can I bulk manage accounts from a CSV file?

Answer:  Yes, EMU allows you to select accounts from a .CSV file and you can then manage those user objects.

References:  Read How to bulk delete user accounts for steps to bulk delete accounts, and read How to bulk delete accounts from CSV file for steps to bulk delete accounts using a CSV file.

Steps:  To select user objects using a CSV file:

1.  Open EMU.

2.  Select "Tools" > "Account Search Based on Data File"

3.  In the "Account Search Based on Data File" window:
  • For "Step 1" click the "Select" button and select the .CSV file to use.
  • For "Step 2" choose the unique identifier field from the drop-down box (these are the column header names from the CSV file).  Choose something that will provide the best possible unique match like "Full Name" or "Login Name".
  • Select the eDirectory comparison field that matches the "Identifier Field:" selected in Step 2 above.
4.  Click "Next".

5.  In the "User Accounts Search" window, select the eDirectory containers to perform a search for the accounts and click "OK".  EMU will open an "Account Search Based on File" window which will display the search in action.  When the search is complete a results window will open.

6.  In the "Account Search Based on Text File" window, deselect any duplicate accounts that you do not want to manage.  Click the "Continue" button.

7.  In EMU, under the "Report Information" pane, use a combination of CTL+A, CTL+CLICK, and SHIFT+CLICK to select the users to be managed.

8.  Right-click the selected accounts and choose "Select In NDS View".  Those accounts will be highlighted in the "NDS Information" pane throughout the tree view.

9.  Under the "NDS Information" pane, right-click one of the highlighted users and choose "Manage Account(s)".  Complete the desired management task.
