GroupWise Common Calendar Update FAQ



Q: Is there a new release of CCU?
A: Common Calendar Update (CCU) is now available as the Riva Common Calendar Update Module. Riva is a new GroupWise Collaboration Integration Suite that incorporates a number of modules.
Q: Is the non-Riva version of CCU still available and supported?
A: No, the standalone version of CCU has been discontinued.

Customers with current support agreements can upgrade to the Riva-based version of CCU.

Q: Can I upgrade my standalone version of CCU to Riva?
A: Customers with current upgrade protection can upgrade to Riva CCU. Files that were used with the stand-alone version of CCU can be used with Riva CCU. We recommend that you look at Riva Tips for tips on how to upgrade CCU.
Q: Is Riva CCU compatible with the standalone version of CCU?
A: You can continue to use the same .CSV input data file that you used with the standalone version of CCU. CCU version 1.x INI files are not compatible with Riva CCU. Rather than using INI files, Riva CCU uses policy driven implementation of source and destination objects.
Q: I only have 16 users whose calendars I want to update (out of 260 users). What's the best way to deploy Riva CCU in my environment?
A: The Riva CCU Create Wizard allows the administrator to define a "source object" account that contains the calendar items you want to push to your 16 accounts. The "source object" can be an eDirectory user (with a GroupWise account), a GroupWise user,a GroupWise resource account, or a CCU input .CSV file.

In your case, you would create an eDirectory group for your 16 users and assign that eDirectory group as the "destination object" for the CCU policy.
Q: I made a mistake on a calendar entry and only noticed it after I updated everyone's calendar. What do I do now?
A: This is where Riva CCU really "shines". Make the necessary change to fix the error and execute the Riva CCU policy to redistribute the calendar items. Only the changes will be updated.
Q: We're an international corporation with offices in ten countries. How would I add the national holidays from each of the countries in which we do business?
A: Riva CCU includes .CSV files with national holidays from 51 different countries including Canada, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Japan, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States. You can manually add any other dates you wish using the CCUadmin utility that is included with the Riva download. Set up a Riva CCU policy that includes the .CSV files as the source and the holidays will be imported into the destination calendars.
Q: How do I receive technical support with Riva CCU?
A: Users with current support contracts can contact us directly at Omni. Prior to calling or emailing your question, please refer to the Riva Tips section of our support forum to see if there is a resolution already available. If there is no resolution available in those forums, please follow the steps in Reporting Riva Problems.
