Help Desk Utility FAQ

Q: What does Help-Desk Utility allow my Help-Desk Operators access to modify?
A: Help-Desk gives network administrators the ability to create a restricted interface that allows HDOs to: change GroupWise and eDirectory passwords, group memberships, GroupWise Distribution List membership, GroupWise visibility, enable/disable eDirectory accounts and expiring GroupWise accounts, manage Organizational Role, Novell NetMail information and eDirectory user values (phone numbers, departments, etc.) and unlock accounts after intruder detection lockout.
Q: How much training will my Help-Desk Operators need to use Help-Desk Utility?
A: Time to train new help desk operators to use HDU is under 15 minutes. Users login to the system with their standard eDirectory login and password.
Q: Can I grant individual Help-Desk Operators different rights to manager user accounts?
A: Yes, a separate HDU.INI file can be created and assigned to each Help-Desk Operator. This file contains the specific security settings and functions that you want to be used by your HDOs. The INI file needs to be copied to the directory from which HDU.exe will be launched by the HDOs.
Q: How is Help-Desk Utility licensed?
A: HDU is licensed on a per-tree or per-container basis.
Q: How many times can I install HDU?
A: HDU licensing permits you the freedom to install HDU where even and when ever you need to support your network administrative needs.
