Licence Installation Guide
OverviewThis page outlines the process of how to install the Desktop Multiplier and activate your licence code. The user simply enters the number of stations to be activated and a secure account access code and then connects to Userful's licensing server over the Internet. The licensing server generates and sends back an appropriate licence file tied to the specific hardware of that system which is then installed in the appropriate location on the hard-disk. There is no need to reboot for the licence to take effect and the registration nag screen should stop appearing immediately after getting a licence key. This simple process must be repeated once on each Desktop Multiplier system. In the event that a system needs to be re-imaged, the process will need to be repeated. However, because the licence is tied to hardware the second and subsequent licence downloads for the same system will not decrease the number of remaining licences in the account. Step 1: Download and Install Multi-Station SoftwareThe Desktop Multiplier must be installed prior to obtaining a licence key file:
Detailed installation instructions can be found in the README.txt or README.pdf file located in the installation file. Step 2: Obtain a Licence Key File2.1. LAUNCH THE USERFUL CONTROL PANEL After installing the Desktop Multiplier, launch the Userful Control Panel. This menu is located here:

In the Userful "About" dialog box, click the [Activate] button, this will launch the activation tool. The activation tool accepts an activation code or launches the on-line Userful licence activation tool which generates an activation code. 2.3. Licence Activation Tool
If you have an activation code, skip to step 3.1. If you do not have an activation code, you will first need to register to obtain one. Click the [Launch Browser to get activation code] button to start the registration process using your web browser. The browser submits basic system information required to create an appropriate licence file, including the system's MAC address, the Linux distribution and version, and installed video cards to Userful's on-line licensing server. Note: The command line equivalent is the The licensing server will walk you through steps 2.4 through 2.6 to complete your registration: 2.4. Read and Accept the Userful License AgreementThe Userful License Agreement describes mutual rights and obligations. You must accept the licence agreement in order to obtain a licence. Accept the licence agreement by clicking the "Yes" option box, and then clicking the "Next" button. 2.5. Complete the User Registration FormThe registration form tells us where to send you an activation code and allows us to better provide subscription based support services. All fields on this form are required including a valid e-mail address in order for you to receive your licence key file. (Note: Userful and Omni do not provide this information to any third parties). 2.6. Receive Activation CodeA confirmation message containing your unique activation code will be sent to the e-mail address you provided. If you are unable to receive mail at the e-mail address you provided, or if you have not received your activation code within 30 minutes of requesting a licence, please contact us at support@omni-ts.com for assistance. Step 3: Obtain and Install the Licence Key File3.1. Enter Activation CodeRe-launch the activation tool if it is not already running from step 2.2. You can do this by launching the "About" dialog and clicking the [Activate] (see steps 2.1 & 2.2 above). Enter the activation code into the application and click [Activate]. The Userful licensing application automatically downloads, installs and activates your licence key file. Note: This activation process can also be run from the command line. To do this, run the Getting HelpIf you are unable to obtain or install a licence using the instructions above, send an e-mail message containing your MAC address and any error messages received to support@omni-ts.com. Only questions pertaining to licence key file installation will be answered at that address.
