Omni Mobile - End of Life Notice
Given the acquisition of AppForge Crossfire by Oracle and Oracle's decision not to support Independent Software Developers on the Crossfire platform, development and distribution of Omni Mobile has ceased. Omni Mobile is now an "End-of-life" product.
Background
The middle-tier software that Omni used for its cross-platform mobile device support is called Crossfire. Crossfire was originally developed by a company called AppForge. Oracle acquired Crossfire from AppForge, and Oracle plans to use Crossfire to develop its Oracle On Demand Mobile service offering. Oracle has decided not to support former AppForge ISV partners on the Crossfire platform.
We had hoped to work with the Oracle partner managers to have Oracle provide Crossfire access for ISVs like Omni. This would have allowed us to continue to develop Omni Mobile for the BlackBerry and other platforms and integrate Oracle application support directly into Omni Mobile.
However, given that we cannot distribute the Crossfire client under license from Oracle, we can no longer offer Omni Mobile to our customers.
Existing Omni Mobile Customers
Existing Omni Mobile customers with current support contracts will continue to receive updates and support. We highly recommend that existing Omni Mobile customers transition to a different mobility solution before your support contract expires. Suggested mobility solutions include:
