New Omni Syncaphone Client Provides Mobile GroupWise Access on Nokia Communicator

GroupWise access is now available for Nokia 9300 and 9500 Communicator users with the Omni Syncaphone client released today

EDMONTON, Canada—September 30, 2005—Omni Technology Solutions continues to lead in providing mobile solutions for GroupWise with its new Omni Syncaphone client for Nokia 9300 and 9500 Communicator. Omni Syncaphone provides Java cell phone users with secure, online access to their GroupWise email, calendars, address books, tasks and notes. Omni Sycaphone installs onto the GroupWise WebAccess server. It does not require any new hardware, databases, or gateway servers to be installed. Knowledge workers who demand mobile access to their full set of business-critical applications can now access the leading collaboration and messaging suite – Novell GroupWise.

Omni Syncaphone provides Java cell phone users with “lightweight” direct access to their GroupWise account. Omni Syncaphone enables users to access their GroupWise accounts online, rather than storing GroupWise data on the Java cell phone.

“GroupWise is fast becoming the center of our customers' day-to-day business activities, and e-mail is often where the work gets done and decisions are made,” said Jonathan Rondon, product manager for Novell GroupWise. “As a result, mobility solutions have become a critical requirement for many of our customers. Omni Syncaphone’s support for Nokia 60 series phones, and now the 80 series phones, can help provide the constant access to collaboration solutions that their businesses demand.”

Omni Syncaphone communicates directly with GroupWise through WebAccess. Because additional databases, gateway servers and software licences are not required, Omni Syncaphone is a very cost-effective solution.

“Omni Syncaphone’s wireless connectivity is as secure and reliable as your GroupWise system,” explains Aldo Zanoni. “No proxy access, trusted APIs, or IMAP or POP3 limitations – just GroupWise!” Omni Syncaphone uses Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) for Internet connections, and a new encryption key is randomly generated for each data request. Syncaphone’s “poison pill” feature allows administrators to remotely clear the mobile application from the Java cell phone if the device is lost or stolen.

Currently, Omni Syncaphone runs on Novell NetWare. Support for Open Enterprise Server, SUSE Linux and Microsoft Windows will be available in future releases. A 30-day trial version of the software is available at: www.omni-ts.com/groupwise-phone/evaluate.html.
