How do the eControl M+ Platform modules work?
eControl's simplified administration platform provides delegated, web-based, audited administration of identity and email platforms (Active Directory, eDirectory, Exchange, GroupWise, ZENworks, Microsoft Terminal Services) and other applications. eControl allows you to delegate the management, provisioning and user self-service of these systems to non-technical staff. By adding the M+Guardian and M+Archive modules to eControl, you can securely delegate management of M+ Platform email protection and email retention policies to your help desk or other staff members without them having to have administrator rights to the systems and without them having to learn to use yet another complex administration interface. All changes made to M+Guardian and M+Archive in eControl are written to the audit log. This allows email auditors to monitor and report on all email protection and archive policy changes.
How do we add the M+ Platform modules to eControl?
Existing eControl customers who already use M+Guardian or M+Archive will appreciate the seamless integration of these applications into eControl. To integrate M+Guardian and M+Archive into eControl, there are no Active Directory or eDirectory schema extensions required, no complex additions or modifications to your Microsoft Exchange or Novell GroupWise environments or modifications required to your existing M+ applications. It requires approximately 15 minutes to add the M+Guardian and M+Archive connectors and create and configure the M+ task collections. Assign the new M+ task collections to your help desk (or other staff) groups and the new tasks appear when they login to eControl.
What eControl modules are required to implement eControl for existing M+ Platform customers?
Existing M+Guardian or M+Archive customers need to install and configure the eControl server module and license the M+ Module. You are not required to license any other eControl modules, unless you want to also take advantage of delegated management, provisioning and user self-service for the other supported platforms and applications. After adding and configuring eControl with the eDirectory, Active Directory, GoupWise or Exchange and M+Guardian and M+Archive connectors, you use the web-based eControl administration interface to configure the delegated administration options. In the Administration Manage module, you create a task collection and configure the email policy options you want to delegate to your support staff (called task authority in eControl) and determine in which OUs you want these options to be available (called search authority in eControl). After you assign the task and search authorities to a group, members of that group will be able to carry out the assigned tasks in the assigned OUs after they login to eControl. It's as simple as that. If you enable and configure the user self-service module for the M+ Platform options, these self-service options will be available.
What M+Guardian and M+Archive options are available to be delegated through eControl?
All of them! Our objective in including M+ Platform support for eControl is to provide complete granular control over all of the M+Guardian and M+Archive email policy and option settings. You can delegate Read-only or Write access to all policy options that are available to be managed in the standard M+ administration applications. Different options and and sub-sets of options can be assigned to to different groups based on their access requirements.
