EDMONTON, Canada—8 Sept 2006—Omni will be holding a telephone press briefing on Tuesday, September 19, 2006, from 11:00 to 11:30 AM Eastern Time to report on our success in executing on a "Multiplied" SLED 10 and openSUSE Strategy. If you are a member of the press and would like to attend, please confirm your participation via email. A slide presentation download link will be provided prior to the session. If you are unable to attend the scheduled session, please contact Trevor Poapst, Director of Global Marketing for Omni, with an alternative time.
The Linux Desktop Multiplier for SLED 10 and openSUSE is software that enables up to 10 independent workstations to run on a single computer. The "Multiplied" Linux desktop strategy is ideal for computer labs, retail POS terminals, thin client deployments and Internet cafes – wherever two or more computers are in close physical proximity.
Unlike traditional thin client technology, each workstation connects directly to the PC via additional dual-head graphics cards and a powered USB hub if additional USB ports are required. Performance is excellent and hardware and software licensing costs are significantly reduced compared to traditional thin client and standard desktop deployments.
