GroupWise Now Able to Integrate with Corporate CRMs

What It Means for Companies


Riva enables GroupWise to deliver a unified view of email and CRM data from all supported clients (Linux, Mac OS X, Windows, Evolution, Outlook, BlackBerry and GroupWise Mobile Server devices).

Corporate executives and sales staff can access their CRM accounts, contacts, appointments, tasks, notes and opportunities in GroupWise. GroupWise has leapfrogged the competition and become the first native email client to allow users to transparently manage their CRM opportunities, quotes, cases and invoices directly FROM their GroupWise client.

How It Works


Administrators can choose to deploy Riva as a single-user Desktop Synchronization Application or as an Enterprise Edition. The desktop edition provides scheduled synchronization for a single user account and gets installed on a desktop computer. The enterprise version gets installed on an existing Linux or Windows-based server and allows for multiple accounts to be synchronized.

Synchronization is transparent to the user and bi-directional between GroupWise and the CRM. Users are only able to view the contacts, opportunities and calendar items associated with their CRM account. So, an executive's address book will not by synced to a junior sales staff, for example.

Riva adds a new CRM calendar to the GroupWise client and custom fields for CRM opportunities GroupWise for opportunities and cases to be viewed and managed directly in GroupWise on-line and off-line.

Advanced Integration Features


Riva SmartConvert Drop Folders bring advanced CRM integration to GroupWise that, to the best of my knowledge, does not exist for other platforms.

By dragging an email into a SmartConvert Drop folder, Riva will automatically and transparently convert a GroupWise email into a CRM opportunity, quote or case. If required, it will automatically create the contact(s), account(s), opportunity/case, assign that case and synchronize it to the owner’s GroupWise account—without the user having to enter any information in the CRM interface.

When a CRM opportunity or case is viewed in GroupWise, users can select the Omni ConnectBar to review, edit or delete the entry directly in GroupWise or quick link to the appropriate CRM page.

Novell Partner Case Study


Montreal-based Novell Gold Partner, Adaris Technologies, spent a year and a half evaluating various CRMs and integration strategies. Their need for CRM integration caused them to migrate to Microsoft Exchange. After 6 months of working to fine-tune Microsoft Dynamics CRM, they found the solution to be too complex, slow and difficult to use. They then evaluated SageCRM which promised better integration for Outlook 2007.

Ultimately, after discovering Riva CRM Integration from Omni, they migrated back to GroupWise and said they have not seen anything that compares with the CRM integration now available for GroupWise. Since deploying the solution, their sales pipeline has never been bigger.
