Thank you for your business

As we say goodbye to 2008, we want to thank you for your business and share all that we are thankful for. Our financial position is exceptional. We continue to be one of the few companies in our industry that pursues a strong growth strategy based on providing products that customers truly need. We're thankful that our vendors and partners work very closely with us to develop products that deliver outstanding end-user and administrator experiences. We're thankful that we're healthy and that our families still love us, and we love them in return.

Most importantly, we're thankful for you, our customers and our friends. Without you, we wouldn't be here today. You have stood proudly by our side as we continue to evolve our company's products to meet your demanding requirements. In return, you can count on our continued commitment to back up our promises of today – to be here to work with you and help you in 2009 and for many years to come. You can count on us.

With Apologies to Casey Stengel

American baseball player and manager, Casey Stengel, said it best: "There are three kinds of people (companies) – those who make things happen, those who watch things happen, and those who ask, "What happened?" We are proud to count ourselves and our customers in Stengel's category of people who "Make Things Happen" and have a bright future ahead in 2009.

2008, The Year We leave Behind

As we enter this new year, 2009, I want to personally thank you for considering Omni's products and entrusting Omni with your business in 2008 and over the years. I look forward to working with you in 2009 to help "make things happen" in your Novell GroupWise, eDirectory and mixed environments.

2008 was an excellent year for Omni.  But as we see from on-going events, including the cancelling of BrainShare 2009, 2008 was a challenging year for many of our US-based and international customers. Despite all that has occurred, Omni has strong confidence in our future and the continued future of Novell GroupWise and Novell as it transitions to becoming a global "Business-driven" Linux company. Omni finished 2008 with continued quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year growth. With the recent launch of GroupWise 8, Riva Integration and Managed Policies and Applications and the launch of eControl 3 in Q1 2009, we project continued growth in 2009. We project that 2009 will be the best year ever for our company. I am proud that Omni foresaw the economic trends in the industry well before they became reality. I refer you to the article that was first published in January, 2008:  "What's a CIO or IT Manager to do During Touch Economic Times?"

Why Our Business Grew in 2008

The primary reason Omni's business grew in 2008 is because we took good care of our current customers and made friends with many new ones – relationships that will last for many years, if not a lifetime. We made sure that our products provided a real, immediate and tangible return on customers' investments. We listened to you, our customers, and delivered solutions that met your specific requirements. In spite of uncertain economic times, a global recession and cut-backs in IT spending, Omni and our partners remain strongly positioned to help customers get the best possible value from their technology investment and existing resources. I believe it was specifically because of the tough economic times that customers became more focused operationally, more focused on ensuring the immediate value of the solutions they deployed, and more focused on ensuring their expectations were met. It is because of the tough economic times that Omni's solutions became even more strategic in helping companies make things happen. In 2008, Omni's products helped partners and customers change the way they ran and administered their businesses and systems. We helped partners, network administrators and GroupWise administrators achieve hero status and unprecedented customer satisfaction.

To achieve hero status and succeed in today's environment, it can no longer simply be a question of trying to sell or implement better technology. It has to be about helping customers and managers combine technology with business processes to provide real and tangible end-user pain relief (because, after all, everyone from the CEO to the receptionist is an end-user.) That's how Omni helped its customers. We showed partners how to help customers succeed in the new business reality. Omni customers who deployed Riva and eControl were able to demonstrate to management how to best leverage their existing investments. By deploying and integrating GroupWise, line-of-business CRM applications and other applications like SharePoint into business processes, Omni customers were able to save money and drive profit. Agile customers are successful -- even in an economic downturn. Omni's products lead the industry in innovation, integration, and agility. They help customers get the best possible return on their current technology investments. Omni eControl, Riva Value Pack Bundles and Riva Integration Server were our top revenue generators in 2008 and will remain so in 2009.

And we also had a lot of fun by giving back to the community. Through our sponsorship of many local user groups and our attendance at events such as Open Horizon's EMEA Summit, NUGI, The Big EveNt, BrainShare, GWAVACon Europe and North America, we helped promote local activities, education and awareness. We even released a free GroupWise integration solution for Facebook, that "business critical" application that I know your CEOs and users are asking for! :-)

What are Your Plans for 2009?

What are your plans for 2009? What technologies will you invest in? What are your projected areas of growth, cost improvements and revenue enhancement? How can Omni help you with those plans? What line-of-business, HR, sales or CRM application are you using to manage your growth in 2009? Is it time to look at how you can integrate your business processes and leverage our leadership in the GroupWise integration and user account management spaces?

Omni will focus 100% of its efforts on Riva and eControl. These two application suites will continue to see unprecedented adoption and growth in 2009. Our Riva and eControl customers are excited. GroupWise administrators are excited about how Riva Managed Policies and Applications have completely changed how they manage their GroupWise content and reporting. They are excited about how Riva has enabled GroupWise to integrate with key line-of-business CRM and collaboration applications. They are excited about how GroupWise has now become "more than just an email client". Riva Integration Server allows Novell and GroupWise to deliver the best integration value and performance of any technology stack in the industry. Customers who have deployed the Riva Integration Sever with Microsoft SharePoint, info@hand, SugarCRM, Salesforce, and other line-of-business applications have seen immediate improvements in their sales numbers and profitability. And in these tough economic times, that's what companies are looking for. And that's what companies are willing to pay for – solid, immediate deliverables.

GWAVACon 2009 – January 25-27

We hope your plans are to start the year off with a bang by attending GWAVACon North America January 25-27. GWAVACon is "THE" place to be for GroupWise, Teaming and ZEN administrators.  Omni is a proud sponsor of GWAVACon and will be presenting Riva Integration Server for GroupWise and eControl 3. Omni will showcase Riva SharePoint Integration for GroupWise.  If your company is looking to automate GroupWise content with policy-based Managed Policies and Applications or if you are being asked to integrate line-of-business applications like Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft CRM, Novell Teaming or any other line-of-business application with GroupWise, GWAVACon is the place to be to see Riva in action. Attend GWAVACon to mingle with the Novell GroupWise, Teaming and ZENWorks management teams and experts. Register to see how eControl "makes things happen" by providing role-based account management for GroupWise, eDirectory, Active Directory and Exchange.

2009 – A "Tipping Point" Year

2009 will be a "Tipping Point" year for many of Omni's current and future customers. 2009 will be the year we say good-bye to some of you. It will be a year when we are introduced to many new customers. Some of our customers will fall into Casey Stengel's "what happened" category. But, those of you who innovate and change your business models and adopt innovative technologies to make things happen will not be concerned about how to survive. You will be executing on how to THRIVE. In these times of economic transition, companies who make things happen based on a multi-step achievable plan will succeed. Historically, strong, innovative companies have emerged from every economic slow-down. Be one of those companies by changing the way you deliver your business services. In these tough economic times, companies that don't use a CRM or appropriate line-of-business application are doomed to failure. Companies will be underachievers if their CRM or line-of-business application is not integrated with GroupWise or other collaboration systems.

New Products and Enhancements in 2009

I can't wait to share with you the new products and MANY Riva Integration Server announcements and deliverables that are planned and will be delivered on in 2009. You will see us add Riva support for new CRMs, new integration options and continued leadership and innovation. We will deliver interoperability features that will continue to allow GroupWise to deliver "Beyond Email" value to its customers.

Early in Q1 2009, eControl Version 3.0 will be available for beta testing. If you haven't tried eControl, this will be the perfect time to change how your front line manages user accounts. The eControl 3 platform will include all of the enhancement requests our customers and partners have submitted. In 2009, eControl's web-based, delegated, "ZERO-Rights", user account management will get better and better – with increasing customer satisfaction. With support for GroupWise 8, eDirectory, Active Directory, Exchange 2003 and 2007, eControl 3 has a strategic role to play for all of you.

Best Wishes for 2009

We wish for each of you health, happiness, peace and prosperity. May the New Year bring to you, personally, all that you wish for and desire – because you deserve it.

Our entire team is focused on the new year and on doing what's right for our customers and the communities we serve. It's this commitment that will make our journey forward a memorable, successful and shared journey.

Best regards,
