eControl Manages Exchange, Active Directory, eDirectory, GroupWise, SAP and others from a Single SaaS Application

Omni’s latest version of eControl replaces complex native administration tools with its unified management portal. eControl extensions for SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Lawson and other third-party applications deliver integrated and linked user create and management profiles.

Edmonton, Canada – May 10, 2010 – Canadian-based software company, Omni (www.omni-ts.com), revolutionizes identity management with its latest version of eControl. eControl allows network administrators to delegate time-consuming identity management tasks (IDM) without having to give users special permissions or access rights in the target system. With its centralized management, dashboard, integrated audit capabilities, extensions for third-party applications, and new bulk manage and create features, eControl 3.5 is ideal for environments with 500 or more users.

Native administration applications such as Microsoft Management Console, Task Pads, ConsoleOne, iManager and SAP GUI are designed to be used by engineers. This explains the challenge of delegating account management and provisioning tasks with these applications to junior administrators and help desk staff and then having to give them administrator-level rights and access in business-critical IT systems. That is where eControl security and delegated management provide significant value.

eControl 3.5's unified management portal, specifically designed for non-IT staff, allows them to carry out delegated account creation, management, audit and user self-service tasks against Active Directory, Exchange, eDirectory, GroupWise, SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Lawson and other third-party applications – from a single browser. Network administrators have full control over the tasks and search contexts available to each user. All changes are written to an extensive audit log for full security auditor oversight and reporting.

Following are eControl 3.5’s most important new features:

  • eControl Extensions for Third-party Applications – eControl can now manage SAP, Oracle, PeopleSoft, Lawson and other business-critical applications. Administrators can delegate management, provisioning and user self-service tasks such as password resets via eControl’s fully audited and role-based management portal. eControl’s value to companies expands as more applications are integrated into its delegated and audited identity management platform.
  • Bulk User Creation for Microsoft and Novell Systems – eControl 3.5 introduces new bulk user creation and management features that are ideal for universities and K-12 education environments that need to create thousands of new student and staff accounts each semester.
  • Integrated User Create Profiles – eControl’s new integrated and linked user create profiles can be configured to create users in multiple systems at once from a single form. For example, if part of the user provisioning process is to create an Active Directory account, Exchange mailbox, SAP account, HR account and write data to an SQL database, this can all be automated with a single eControl user create profile. eControl will respect data requirements for each system such as strong passwords, required data formats, and so on.
"eControl delivers what no other identity management application offers," said Aldo Zanoni, CEO and Managing Director of Omni. "It provides a single, unified management portal for non-IT staff to carry out delegated tasks against corporate IT systems that range from Active Directory and Exchange to SAP and Oracle – from a browser. Customers purchase eControl because it delivers more IT with fewer IT staff and resources. eControl is quick to implement, it delivers an immediate return on investment, and simplifies the complex business of managing and provisioning accounts by replacing the native administration tools."

eControl’s intuitive Web 2.0 interface does not require extensive user training. Since eControl provides identity management and provisioning from a standard browser, the solution can be deployed quickly and is platform-independent. eControl increases help desk productivity by enabling staff to login from a browser to carry out assigned tasks that traditionally require RDP or VPN sessions and administrative access to the systems. eControl’s user self-service capabilities reduces the number of calls to corporate help desks because users can reset their own passwords in Active Directory, SAP, eDirectory, GroupWise, Lawson and other line-of-business systems.
